About The Retreat Community

Breaking the Cycle of Violence

The Retreat is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving all of Long Island.

The Retreat provides safety, shelter and support for children, adults and families affected by domestic violence, abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking. Our mission is to break the cycle of violence.

In pursuit of that mission, we offer confidential, no-fee support services, including 24-hour multilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter. Through our fatherhood Initiative, we also engage men as parents and partners in building safe, stable, and thriving families.

The agency is committed to providing compassionate, empathetic and culturally aware services to all clients. Interactions are approached with these values in mind, and it is expected that clients will be treated with compassion, respect and sensitivity during the provision of holistic and welcoming services.

The Retreat does not discriminate with respect to race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or military or veteran status in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
