The mission of The Retreat Teen Leadership Project is to prevent abuse and promote respect in all relationships and to help support The Retreat and expand its focus to include the prevention not just of domestic violence, but also of all sorts of relationship abuse, including bullying and harassment, sexual assault, and teen dating violence.
The project is an opportunity for teens from East End schools to work together while learning about violence prevention and promoting respect and safety in the community. We foster awareness about the dynamics of all relationships, from abusive to healthy, and teach students about safe and effective intervention strategies. We help them learn how to prevent unhealthy situations through fun and meaningful activities. We also partner with teens, not just to train them, but also learn from them in developing programming that is responsive to the needs and concerns of young people.
