The Retreat - Services
overview

At the Retreat, we do so much more than crisis intervention. We do so much more than provide food and shelter. We do more than counseling and advocacy, too. The Retreat is a place where lives are transformed and oftentimes, our programs provide the bridge to a new, happier, life.

LINCS (Learning Independence & Networking to Create Self-sufficiency) is a training program that provides guidance and direction in job readiness, personal organization and life enrichment for individuals who are survivors of domestic abuse.

S.H.A.R.P. (Structured Help Antiviolence Re-education Program) is a group program for men who are physically, verbally and/or emotionally abusive toward their partners. The group helps men take full responsibility for their abusive behavior while actively learning new strategies to deal with relationship issues.

Education Program: A key to preventing violence in the lives of children and adolescents lies in building their internal resources to protect them against VIOLENCE. When completing a school presentation our staff's greatest satisfaction is knowing that they were successful in providing students in the elementary, middle and high schools with concrete information to use-if and when necessary.

Resources: A helpful list of resources for our clients and supporters.

About Us - Overview

The Far Side of Good-Bye

Nothing lasts forever, even the pain will end

the rain will stop, the clouds will part and the sun will shine again.

One night you lay your head to sleep and realize today you forgot to cry.

One day you find that life goes on here, on the far side of good-bye.

Time can fade the memories and dull the edge of the ache,

you get to the point where your heart doesn’t hurt with every breath you take.

One day you’ll see a rainbow and not even turn to share

the warmth of that specialmoment with someone whose no longer there.

You’ll find yourself looking forward. . . and hoping.

Instead of looking back. . . and asking why?

And you’ll see that there really is a life here, on the far side of good-bye.
