Retreat Art Contest winner, Jeanette Martone, wins a Solo Show, at RJD Gallery. This was judged by “Christina Strassfield”, GUILD HALL MUSEUM Director, and Kathryn Markel, Art Gallery owner, to raise awareness and funds for the benefit of the Retreat.

Jeanette Martone “Imagining” Graphite and Ink on Paper 41″ x 26.5″
During her volunteer work in the Dominican Republic, Jeanette created exquisite graphite and ink portraits on paper depicting the touching reality of everyday life. She also spent days building homes for the homeless, and unfortunate, with the assistance of her husband James. She has a heart of gold and a wonderful eye and talented hand for capturing with compassion and with hope, the lives of others.

For 26 years, The Retreat has been providing domestic violence services and education to families on the East End of Long Island. Programs include a residential shelter for women and children, a 24-hour domestic violence hotline, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy for all victims of domestic violence, programs to engaged troubled fathers and other men who may be at-risk of committing family violence, and an in-school violence prevention education program taught in local area schools. All services are provided free of charge.
